
Menorca is one of the four islands in the Balearic Islands which make up the Mediterranean. Menorca is also called Minorca, which was named Minorca by the Romans meaning the 'Little One' compared to Majorca meaning the 'Large One'. Menorca is known as the 'Jewel of the Balearics' as it retained much of its natural beauty, landscape and traditional Spanish heritage.

Cuidadella was the original capital of Menorca until the British occupation in the 18th century moved it to Mahon (Mao). Cuidadella is now the religious capital of Menorca with the Cathedral located centrally in the town and has many monuments dating from 18th century. Mahon (Mao) is the oldest and largest town in Menorca and situated at the end of one of the biggest natural harbours in the world. This is a great attraction along with many other important sights around the harbour, a great way to view these magnificent sights is by taking a harbour tour and taking pictures on the water.
